On 23 June 2025, activists from the UK collective Everyone Hates Elon and Greenpeace Italy unfurled a 20-by-20-metre banner across Venice’s Piazza San Marco, picturing Jeff Bezos alongside the message “If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax.”
The action came as Bezos prepared to celebrate his reportedly $11-million wedding aboard a megayacht off the coast of a city itself sinking under the climate crisis.
